There's no better eating to be found than than fixin's from the kitchens down home, down south, below the Mason-Dixon Line. Good, solid, no-frills fare - full of flavor and passed on through the generations.

I'm of the opinion that Southern cooking is the only true regional American cuisine. Other identified American cuisines, like cajun/creole and Southwestern, have heavy foreign influences.

No Carolina barbecue here though. Check the Carolina Barbecue Page for a bunch of North and South Carolina's
best barbecue.

The Southern Foodways Alliance's mission is to celebrate, preserve, promote, and nurture the traditional and developing diverse food cultures of the American South.
