I got off I-81 in the New Market, VA area figuring there had to be some good eating to be found in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley - just had to get away from the interstate.

And is there ever.  The Southern Kitchen is all about great country cooking - perfectly fried chicken, a not-to-sweet cup of peanut soup, and one of their specialty meringue pies, chocolate meringue.

Went back for breakfast a couple of months later, on my way back from Nashville.  Had a plate of sausage and biscuits.  As good as I knew they wood be.
