I
asked the the desk clerk about home cooking in the
Brattleboro area. "My father really likes the
Royal Chelsea Diner." Tactfully, she didn't
complete the sentence, "So an old guy like you should
too." But she was right. I liked the
Royal Chelsea alot. It's a classic - all wood, well aged,
a friendly
staff, lots of locals about, and good cooking in the
kitchen.. A
while back they moved the diner from down town to a site
about 3 miles west of the city. Thar she stands now,
offering an eclectic combination of home and not-so-home
cooking. I was there for breakfast and did quite
well with homemade corned beef hash.
