First thing to do
at any barbecue restaurant, look for the wood pile.
There is one along side the pit building at Lefty's.
I tried a combo
plate with two sides. The combo, three pork ribs
and half a barbecued chicken. Both good, but a tad over
smoked. A choice or mild or hot sauce. For sides,
fried okra and slaw.
Stew was on the
menu but it was "seasonal." Unsure about what ingredient
in stew was seasonal, I ask my waitress. "It's seasonal
because in the summer it's too hot to eat stew."
I saved room for
dessert. Everything but the pecan pie is home
made. I'm a sucker for peach cobbler. Left's bakes a
great cobbler. There is not much better than a
dish of cobbler warm from the oven and topped with some
vanilla ice cream.
