I still remember when I had my first Famous 4th Street Deli chocolate chip cookie with walnuts.  It was in 1979 at the Philadelphia Folk Festival.  A woman named Liz brought along a bag and offered me one.  Eureka!!!  I snuck two others when she wasn't looking.  Best cookie I've ever had.

These are giant cookies - four or so to the pound.  Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Walnut, Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Raisin.  Famous Deli cookies are sold at some other places around town including Reading Terminal Market, but they just don't taste the same as the original.

There's a whole deli with seats and deli cases and such.  Good food too.  But somehow I never make it past the cookie counter at the front of the place.
