UNCLE DEWEY'S BBQ PAVILION

US Route 40 (Mile Marker 40)
Mizpah, NJ
(609) 476-4040

Fri - Sunday, June To October
Thurs too, maybe

The Kingfish was the first to start selling ribs along Route 40, but Uncle Dewey started barbecuing before him, cooking privately for family, church and friends. The Kingfish is more rustic, rougher around the edges. Uncle Dewey's is a bigger operation, more smokers.

The menu includes barbecue ribs and chicken and kettle fried fish. Good sauce, but I liked Kingfish's smokiness a bit better. However, overall, for ribs, chicken and sides, I'd vote for Uncle Dewey's . Great sweet potato pie too. And finally, a homemade lemonade that actually tastes like lemonade.
