The Old Salt Cafe is an offshoot of the more upscale Seafarer's Wife Restaurant. They share the building and, I suspect, the kitchen. A good kitchen it appears. I started with seafood chowder - packed with lobster meat, scallops, shrimp and haddock. Then, a combination plate - fried scallops and Maine Shrimp. Maine shrimp are a small shrimp, like salad shrimp, but more firm and with good flavor.
Unfortunately I wasn't there on Friday. Friday's special is a coastal version of the traditional New England boiled dinner substituting corned hake for corned beef.
