FRENCH SIDEWALK MARKETS
Part of the joy of walking any French city or town is happening upon the inevitable sidewalk market boasting whatever comes out of the local fields, kitchens and plants. During this trip I came across two, the Sunday market, which runs for four blocks along the Rhone in Lyon and the daily seafood market in the old harbor of Marseilles.
For gastronomic reasons only, I pity anyone from France who moves to the United States. What is an everyday expectation in terms of food freshness and quality in any French Market, is rare if not impossible to find in most parts of the United States.
