We ended up in
Chesapeake City MD on the 4th of July. My friends'
goal was to get seafood, on the water. My goal was
to minimize the drive time. Chesapeake City, a
historic small town on the canal that connects
Chesapeake Bay to the Delaware River, is probably better
known to boaters that drivers, but it was the perfect
destination.
We got our seafood.
And we were near water - the Tap Room is about a block
from the canal. And we ate quite well. The
blue crabs come regular style with Old Bay seasoning or
in garlic. I opted for a plate of spaghetti with
shrimp and scallops. Someone else had fried
scallops. We also all had corn on the cob,
Chesapeake style, which means sprinkled with Old Bay
seasoning. And started with crab puffs reminiscent
of Mrs. Paul's crab cakes, which is a good thing.
A great 4th of July
or anytime in the summer destination.
