The pierogies are plump and juicy...  The potato pancakes are huge, perfectly fried, crisp outside, soft inside.  The stuffed cabbage is as good as I've had.  So why have I lived in Philadelphia for 20 years without being here before?

Syrenka is in Port Richmond, a bit north of Center City - Allegheny Avenue exit off the expressway.   You order from the cafeteria line and then find a table.  The five kinds of pierogies (sauerkraut, meat, cheese, potato and potato and cheese) and the potato pancakes are cooked to order.
