Sonic, with 2800 locations, is America's larger
drive-in. But the thing is they are still
drive-ins. Pull up to a stall, wait for a car hop,
place your order, meal on a tray drive-ins. Yes
the look has evolved, but the service hasn't, which is
very good.
I went for a No. 2
Cheeseburger with mustard, dill pickle and lettuce.
A No. 1 has mayonnaise instead of mustard. On the
right, the regular Coney, with chili, cheese and diced
raw onion. Nowadays the menu also offers wraps and
chicken breast sandwiches. Probably good, but a
little to avant drive-in for me. All manner of ice
cream creations for dessert.
