The
Saturday Farmers Market At Ferry Plaza, outside of the
Ferry Building Market is one of the premiere farmers
market in the United States. More variety and
unfamiliar products than I've encountered at any other
market. Probably the best contact with the actual
growers and producers.
On Saturdays the
plaza is packed with both vendors and customers.
Best to get there early before the major crowds.
Plenty of breakfast choices, pancakes, nova, fresh
shucked oysters, omelets, fresh orange juice and
pastries. No one walks away hungry.
Meyer lemons,
persimmons, all sorts of figs, every citrus fruit known
to California, brussel sprouts on the stem, wine grapes,
knife sharpener, flowers, breads, cheeses, nuts, and
free range everything. Looking over it all, for
reasons I don't totally understand, Mahatma Gandhi.
