Took
some hunting to find Mama Dip's. I was way over on
the other side of Chapel Hill when I asked a police
officer for directions. "Follow me." I was
hoping he'd turn on the lights and siren, but instead a
totally law abiding 25 mph all the way to Mama Dip's
front door.
Mama Dip's is
definitely worth tracking down. Down south home
cooking at it's best. I started with crab gumbo
and a side of hush puppies followed by my all time
favorite version of chicken and dumplings. Equally
good banana pudding for dessert.
I headed back for
breakfast, managing to find my own way. I had
missed Mama Dip's famous fried chicken for dinner.
Didn't turn out to be a problem. Wish more
restaurants served this breakfast - Fried chicken with
gravy, eggs over easy, grits and a ham biscuit on the
side.
That's Mama Dip,
aka Mildred Council at the right, having breakfast with
a grandson or maybe great grandson. |
