Surreal.  That was my first impression.  It was the wood table.  I put my beer bottle down on the table and no clank, it felt soft.  Then I realized.  The worn wood table is covered with oil cloth that looks like warn wood.  My kind of place.

Was there on a Monday evening.  The place was packed.  I figured out why.  Monday is meatloaf night.  And Monday is mashed potatoes night.  Great meatloaf.  Chunky, creamy mashed potatoes.  And the green beans.  Fresh from the can and stewed for hours.  It's the only way to serve green beans in the south.

Lupies is probably more famous for their hamburgers.  That's a chili-slaw burger above.  Choice of chili, mild-mannered Cincinnati style or burning hot Texas style.  I like their dogs even better.  A large, grilled chili Slaw dog.  Same choice of chilis.

For dessert, a mountain of banana pudding.  Higher than my coffee mug.  Jam packed full of sliced bananas and vanilla wafers.
