It
always pays to get off the Interstates and Turnpikes and
take the old time highways everyone used to travel.
I did in Indiana, choosing US Route 20 over the Indiana
Turnpike. Took
me through some beautiful country and I stumbled upon a
few interesting roadside stands. My favorite,
Indiana's Best Popcorn. Run
by a retired gentle to cover the
cost of his weekly gospel radio show out of South
Bend. He told me about a neighbor down the road who
brags, "Only been out of Indiana once, when I went to
Indianapolis." Picked
up a bag of homemade caramel corn. Good munching
along the road.
