Took a while to find out about the Freeport Cafe.  First the desk clerk at my motel wanted to send me to some pizza place, then McDonald's, then Friendly's.  Finally his assistant could contain herself no longer.  "Try the Freeport Inn.  That's where I always send people.  They have great breakfasts."

Try it I did and great breakfasts they have.  I went for one of the daily specials - grilled trout, eggs and johnnycakes.  The grilled trout was topped with caramelized onions and carrots.  The johnnycakes were like small muffins, sorta.  All in all, probably the best way to start off the day in Freeport Maine.
