Proper tribute to
the city that invented the ice cream soda and the ice
cream sundae. An old time soda fountain, dipping
parlor that could easily date back to the turn of the
century. One of the founding brothers (maybe both
I haven't met the other) even waxes his mustache.
Franklin Fountain
is a complete soda fountain. Fruit flavored
phosphates, floats, ice cream sodas, sundaes.
Cones and cups of ice cream. Not so traditional
are the fortune cookies loaded with Ben Franklin's
wisdom. No need to buy a fortune cookie though,
every time the antique National Cash Register rings, one
of Franklin's sayings is displayed in the window.
Sundaes seem a good
starting off point. Above the Stock Market Crunch
- chocolate ice cream topped with pretzels, peanut
butter sauce and whipped cream. To the right, the
peach melba parfait - fresh peach ice cream with
raspberry puree. Pistachios and whipped cream on top.
A lot of from and a
great and appropriate addition to Philadelphia's
historic district.
