Philadelphian's
will know what I mean when I say The Egg and I is a cross
between Little Pete's and Carman's Country Kitchen.
It's got the feel of a Little Pete's - basic
breakfast/lunch room bordering on a greasy spoon, and the
creative menu of a Carman's. There are three boards
filled with all the various specials the Egg and I offers. I
went for the New Yorker - "Dropped" (poached)
eggs on corned beef hash and topped with Hollandaise Sauce.
Picked up a couple of fresh baked muffins on the way out. Other
breakfast possibilities included banana and strawberry
waffles, Irish and Italian eggs, and all manner of omelet
combinations.
