Located on Oxford's town square, the Ajax Diner whips up a bunch of good down home cooking.  As I always do, when it's on the menu, I went for the chicken and dumplings.  Chunks of chicken and plenty of dumplings in a rich, cream gravy.  On the side, sweet potato casserole which in a crust would be sweet potato pie and spicy creamed spinach that packed a peppery kick.  For dessert - warm cherry cobbler a la mode.

Also on the menu, Matty's Mom's Meatloaf, Hot Tamale Pie, Fried Catfish and Red Beans and Rice.
